This is a relatively old issue by now. But its still nice to see sergeants doing their job -- and being able to differentiate between legal and illegal orders. :thumb:

Philippine Army chief Lt. Gen. Generoso Senga has recommended the pullout of the entire 41st Infantry Battalion from Abra after a fact-finding team confirmed that soldiers had served in the "private armies" of local politicians.
Senga told reporters on Thursday that the Army had completed its investigation into reports that members of the 529-man 41st IB were involved in criminal activities in Abra. The investigation team was headed by Maj. Gen. Bonifacio Ramos, chief of the Army Inspector General's Office.
Senga noted that the soldiers' "involvement is not that bad."
"However, given the prevailing situation, I recommended that the entire battalion be replaced," he said, adding he had already given his recommendation to Armed Forces Chief of Staff Gen. Efren Abu.
Earlier, Senga told reporters that he would ask Northern Luzon Command chief Lt. Gen. Romeo Dominguez to work out the transfer of the 41st IB troops.
Initial reports said they might be replaced by troops based in Tuguegarao, Cagayan.
The 41st IB troops would undergo "re-training" before they are re-assigned, Senga said.
Early this month, Interior Secretary Angelo Reyes sacked the entire police force in Abra and removed control and supervision over the police from local executives.
The directive came after a fact-finding team reported that the provincial police force was inept, and that private armies maintained by warring politicians were behind the recent spate of violence and political tension in the province.
Its Task Force Abra had also recommended to the Department of National Defense the replacement of the 41st IB.
Former 41st IB commander Lt. Col. Noel Mislang is facing court martial for allegedly
ordering two of his men to assassinate Lagayan town mayor Cecile Luna and her family upon orders of Abra Gov. Vicente Valera.
But the
two sergeants refused to carry out the orders and reported Mislang to their superiors.
