commando - May 12, 2005 02:02 PM (GMT)
Hey you pinoys! What do you think of the defenders of our 7,107 islands. To me, I think they are IN NEED OF REFORMS badly. I wanna know what you think of their shitty situation.

That maybe so, but with the aquisition of your new cyclone class ship and your already powerful peacock class corvettes, you have a considerable small surface fleet. It may not be as powerful as to the USN/Royal Navy, but it does its job.
I know that the PN will acquire more ships in the new future and I have complete support of the PN. Any navy personell that lays down his/her life in the protection of his/her nation's sea lanes despite overwhelming odds is aperson to be honored and praised.
As many navy personell here already know, I have great respect for PN members.

Yes, that may be true, the PN is weak compare to her neighbors, but the PN is doing its job to protect our country. A lot of things that the PN has done to stop the smugglers, but the problems are the corrupt officers and politicians. Even the PN apprehend the smugglers, the corrupt officers and politicians, in order for them to get rich, they're gonna do anything so that these smugglers can't go to jail.
Look at Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia, they have a poweful navy compare to the Philippines, but piracy in the Strait of Malacca, Singapore Strait and the area that borders these 3 countries is so rampant. They can't even stop it, that's why that area is considered as one of the piracy prone in the world.

OUR NAVY IS INDEED VERY WEAK. :bs:
Our focus for now though should be how to to help our economy grow.
For me, i would suggest buying these: (considering the report on US assistance)
7 Cyclone-class ships, team up with a CB90H boat and Sea Killer gunboat.
-->
1 ship for Palawan beach resorts,
1 for Malampaya,
1 for Bohol,
1 for Davao gulf, and
1 for Mindoro area
the remaining two will handle the borders down south. One near Tawi-tawi area. the other will take the eastern section of the border.
3 missile corvettes for our interim program on external defense
6 OPVs for border patrols.
4 Maritime Patrol Aircrafts with ASW capability.

outrunned in what sea state?
gritpaladin - June 19, 2005 01:52 AM (GMT)
Outrun? i dont think so now since we captured those ex-AbuSayaff Fast Speedboats and armed it with 50 calibre machine guns....We could secure our border if we have enough Hi-Tech gadgets that can monitor our open seas like Radars in a specific/strategic locations in our country. Perhaps we can armed these speedboats with Spike missiles or installed with Multi-Tube M79 Grenade Launchers (customized), that would give those FastBoats some punch for our Navy. :asniper: javascript:emoticon(':asniper:')

Compared to the PAF, the PN is a head above the water. But its still floundering.
Where are the lifeguards?

outrunned in what sea state?

Sir, i believe that was prevalent before we got the Sea Killers.
Now that we have faster boats in our arsenal, i believe we can all claim that nothing can outrun our Navy.
The only question is, "is there any segment in our borders that the Navy cant see still?"
GKB02 - August 13, 2005 05:19 AM (GMT)
its still weak.. but i know it will soon become a force to be reckoned with in the future... :thumb:

I believe that investing on sea crafts that have helipads will surely help. Attack helicopters patrolling the Philippine waters will surely add more security and firepower. Helicopters can cover more water in less time. Also equipping the PN with modern radar equipments will boost their patrol capabilities.

yup its weak :(
but im not loosing hope for our PN :thumb:

We need Stealth Corvettes like the German K130 Braunschweig Class It is designed with Stealth features, Low draft, and highly automated weapons and defense systems to support littoral warfare and National territorial water operations. It is equipped with Oto Melara 62-Calibre 76mm Super Rapid Naval Gun, Two Reytheon RAM System Rolling Airframe Missile 21-cell mk49 Surface to Air Missiles and the latest RBS-15 mark3 Anti-Ship Missile from Sweden the same RBS-15 used on the Gripen, and it is capable for land attack use as well. And Its has a Helicopter landing pad too Say: a Eurocopter Dauphin (Navy version) will do.. Next an Air Defense Missile equipped stealth Frigates again the German F124 Sachsen Class is the Best choice for the Philippine Navy.. Its also has Stealth features and low draft its missile systems medium and long range anti-air missiles are the Reytheon Evolved Sea Sparrows and the Standard Missile SM2111-A which are fired from a VLS mk41 32 Cell launcher and its equipped with Rolling Airframe Missiles RAM mk31 Launchers with two four cell Harpoons missiles launchers as well as having a Helicopter landing pad for the NH90 Helicopter Or the AgustaWestland AW101 Naval version.. These K130 and F124 will definitely be a Naval Deterrent to all posssible aggressor and a Defense to our Philippine Territorial Waters as well. :rifle:
