Title: Uniform standards

ian - July 18, 2005 10:56 AM (GMT)
I would like to know if the PA imposes uniform standards to cadets as to how to wear their uniform, what patches, baloon or airborne technique on their lower BDA, etc. It varies so much between schools that, it looks like there is no standard.

The CDC commanders apparently have free reign to impose whatever uniform requirements they want. There is little oversight.

I made a double post on the subject today since its been a while since my last visit here. Moderators/Admins are free to delete the other thread. :armywink: Anyway, here in our place it seems that different units have free reign as to the uniform. Is there a manual concerning uniform codes/rules?

yep.. pardon me ha, kc mahirap tlaga mag balloon-type sa pants. parati nlng akong na-punish kc di ako marunong. hehehehe

Gumamit ka na lang ng garter. Tie it its ends together so that it forms a large rubber band; slip one up each leg, then tuck your pants in. It'll work everytime.

thanks adroth! ang dali lang pala...

In the US, their uniform code states that they are not allowed to use garters or straps other than the one provided for in their lower BDUs since garters might restrict circulation to the feet. They are also not allowed to tuck in their lower BDUs inside their combat boots, a technique commonly known here as airborne because when the BDUs get wet, the water might seep into their boots which will rot their feet. I wish the higher echelon would spend time in scientific research which would make our soldiers more comfortable in their gear at the same time more combat effective, rather than sucking up the already minute resources in our armed forces. :armyneutral:

Hahaha!!! You said it right kid.

Happened many times during my RR days at the U.P. sunken garden lagoon and drainage area with all those mud and sludge getting in. Mere rain water will creep into your boots. I used to tuck in my lower BDU about 2/3 height of my boots from the ground during FTX.

Lessons learned thru experience which should be passed on by instructors/cadet officers to their trainees. Simple hygiene and care of self should be and is a part of basic training.

Fantastic idea Mr S :thumb:

In the absence of that in real life, this forum will have to do. That's one way we can make this forum more relevant to reservists and reservists-in-training.

If tucking boots is so problematic, why doesn't the US Army go back to wearing combat leggings (AKA fruit boots)? Combat experience has shown they can keep leaches out of your legs

Hey guys. Can you tell me what uniform does your ROTC unit currently use? BDA, Green Fatigues, GOA, Type C, etc.? Thanks.

Noki01 - April 13, 2006 06:24 AM (GMT)

ian - April 13, 2006 01:17 PM (GMT)
You are required to purchase your uniforms from your ROTC office? :wow: Talk about monopoly (more signs of corr*cough*rup*cough*shun)!

ian - April 14, 2006 01:39 AM (GMT)

Officers and Special Service Units wear the Marine Night Camouflage uniform

An amusing story I've heard is that in Saint Scholastica's college, it has been considered "trendy" at some point to wear the HBT Marine Headgear. Ever since DLSU ROTC started incorporating females into its ranks and have them wearing uniforms, some of them look really good (and cute) in them... they kind of give off that "Demi Moore vibe". Some Kulasas who see them walking around the Taft-Vito Cruz area must have thought "oh cool" and started to wear HBTs too (just for the heck of it!) as inspired by the DLSU ROTC Women "models".

Thanks for the great pictures lieutenant_seniorgrade! How do cadets (regular and officers) blouse their lower garments? balloon-type? Thanks again!

lieutenant_seniorgrade - June 1, 2006 04:15 PM (GMT)
You're very welcome. It's balloon type, mate.

Wala bang standard uniform specs for ALL ROTC units nationwide?

ian - June 13, 2006 11:15 AM (GMT)
Uniform standards rely on the CDC commanders kung saan under yung ROTC unit. But in my opinion, the AFPRESCOM should set a standard, just like in the regular units, para walang variation at hindi magastos sa costs.

scuttlebutt - June 13, 2006 06:36 PM (GMT)
ok na yung fatigue kahit hand me down.maybe change the patches, name cloth and cover depende sa ROTCU

HBT for NROTC
Ball cap for ARMY ROTC & AFROTC

don't know if you already apply this but some of the guys I know in active service rub petroleum jelly on their feet prior to going on long foot patrols, they say it protects their feet especially during marches in wet and muddy conditions

Bump!

This school year, our new commandant removed the fatigue uniform for regular cadets and opted for the type C uniform so as to be able to "compete" with the other NSTP programs in terms of uniform costs. Other schools around our area didn't follow suit though since they said they heard rumors that the higher-up will put out uniform standards for all ROTC units.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Noong I was in DLSU pa mas darker green yun nakuha ko na BDU than my buddies. Pangit siya kasi yun mga butones parang mga nalusaw sa init. Matibay naman as it lasted yun nga lang hindi na kasya sa akin ngayon. He he, yun nakita ko pix with those holding Garands it reminded me then my days. Ganyan rin gamit namin noon - real steel. Pero sa amin may bitbit pa kaming lumang field radio :P

Ano yung type c? yun ba yung white unprinted shirt and blue jeans and rubber shoes?
