Title: NOQC/MOCC
Description: about its content
MSantor - August 23, 2005 01:58 AM (GMT)
UPDATED EDIT: THIS POSTER HAS SINCE IMMIGRATED TO CANADA AS A LANDED IMMIGRANT/PERMANENT RESIDENT (ENTERED AND SETTLED 2006) AND IS NO LONGER INTERESTED IN THE PHILIPPINE MARINES.
This thread will remain as a discussion board regarding all inquiries surrounding the Philippine Marines' NOQC.
PDFF Mod Staff, August 23, 2009.
Mayroon ba mga grads ng NOQC and the PMC Marine basic course dito? I just have some questions for you about its content if it's okay...

Very hard for you to extract info here - the guys are very observant about OPSEC/PERSEC matters.
MSantor - October 6, 2005 02:14 AM (GMT)
Please don't use that as an excuse- it's just training- nothing classified.
Why doesn't any one answer this question? It's just training and nothing classified. I don't think OPSEC would be threatened by this question.
It's bad enough that I'm here in the US and they won't let me enlist. And here I am asking a question and my own native people won't help me! :headbang:

Check the Philippine Navy website or the Philippine Marine Corps Website. :snipemo:
MSantor - October 17, 2005 04:41 AM (GMT)
I'm sorry, but I've already checked both sites and they're not specific enough on questions that I need to get answered.

men, ayaw kang tanggapin ng US military? ikaw na din nagsabi, so baka may problem ka- the US wont accept you, tapos dami mo sinusulat at tinatanong sa Philippine military pero wala ka pala sa pinas, men maybe checking with the shrink dyan will answer your questions, sana..........................

Dapat mo maintindihan na hindi ako pwedeng mag-enlist dito kasi HINDI AKO US CITIZEN O GREEN CARD HOLDER! THEY ONLY TAKE US CITIZENS OR GREEN CARD HOLDERS! They don't take Filipino non-green card holders anymore for recruitment because our Defense Treaty with them ended in 1992 when Subic and Clark closed. And the current VFA doesn't include allowing Filipino citizens to enlist in the US military.
Believe me I have tried and tried and tried and THE ONLY THING THE US RECRUITERS CARE ABOUT IS WHETHER YOU HAVE A GREEN CARD. When you hear about success stories of Fil-Ams in the US military it's because they are US citizens!
I am only on a TEMPORARY WORK VISA (H-1B OPT), which is given to all international students who graduate from college here (I was previously on a student VISA for the last 6 years, including some high school) I am not going to wait and BE OBSSESSED WITH GETTING A GREEN CARD like most Pinoys I meet here- it takes years and years and there's so much red tape and no employer wants to sponsor you to renew your work permit COZ they're so damn XENOPHOBIC (No offence to any Fil-Ams here!) That's why I am considering going home.
Gusto ko lang maging sundalo!

MSantor,
Bu dui. Although the acceptance of Filipinos ended with the closure of the bases, the Mutual Defense Treaty remained. Bases agreement and the mutual defense treaty are related, but are not one and the same. The absence of bases made the US disinterested in aggressively pursuing close military relations -- but the Philippines and US remained official allies.
The VFA simply provides a framework with which to flesh out the spirit of the treaty.

Bro Magisip kang mabuti!
Kahit na kung marriage- sobrang suspicious naman yung USCIS (formerly INS) of any marriage for a green card. At pagkatapos, by the time I'm eligible and have that work-sponsored greencard (mga ten to fourteen years from now) magiging enlisted man lang ako- e di sayang na yung edukasyon ko! As I said, only US citizens can become officers, while green card holders can only be enlisted men and cannot hold a security clearance for MOS/jobs like intel! Green card holders with college degrees can become only E-4 in the Army, USAF and Navy, and only E-2 in the Marine Corps. I guess being a US Army Corporal in command of single Abrams tank isn't bad at all, but the current war on terror will be over by then, unless Kim Jong Il acts up.
Kung military ang gustong kong career, then I should try to become an officer, since I have BA- the AFP is the only place where I can become an officer. Besides I think they could use another Mandarin speaker who is not a Chinoy (no offense to any Xavier people in this forum)
Anyways, I am also considering stay here, since my OPT ends next July.

Sinabi ko na ba- more lectures na naman on "how you think it's better here than there". Kaya palang mayroon brain drain kasing maraming ganyan attitude sa Pinas-
...and of couse the "Crabby attitude of the Pinoy"... that's why we'll never progress as a nation because we keep pulling each other down! SAWA NA AKO SA GANYANG HAYOP!
And so what if someone wants glory?! The thirst for glory is what makes life worth living! PAGKAIN AT STANDARD OF LIVING LANG YUNG INISIP MO! NAPAKA NARROW MINDED NAMAN- LOOK AT HONG KONG, TAIWAN and the other Asian Tigers- you only have to go next door to find a similar standard of living! IF OTHER ASIANS CAN DO IT, SO CAN WE! And we can only achieve prosperity if we have stability-by getting rid of the NPA, Islamic fundamentalists and others that prevent our nation from being strong (among a host of other problems like corruption) that's where the military comes in.
You think America is such a better place? Huh- it seems you've never been to the US! You've haven't seen the sprawling neighborhoods of South Central LA, Compton, you haven't had DAMN white trash doing WEED in your college dorm and doing it without giving a s@#t if you minded...AND YOU HAVEN'T HAD A US RECRUITING SERGEANT SAY IN YOUR FACE "GO HOME YOU DAMN FLIP!" .
The world's greatest country can't even provide for all its own citizens as well, because of Bush's damn "ownership" society, tax cuts that favor the rich and XENOPHOBIC Republicans with their damn stricter immigration laws and so on- If America's so great why are there are dilapidated public schools just five miles from the US Capitol building?! The locals I respect the most here are liberals like Michael Moore but they are fighting a losing battle against ignorance, xenophobia and a hedonistic greed that keeps the weak and the poor at the bottom of society. That's why I'm considering going home!
Sorry, Moderators but I had to speak my mind. Now is anyone going to answer my NOQC question? :btt:

Have you actually try to enlist in the US military. If you did, the recruiter that you talk to is not that good then. There are people who got accepted in the US military with just a working visa.
MSantor - October 23, 2005 04:27 PM (GMT)
Groundpounder,
I have tried. What you said:
"There are people who got accepted in the US military with just a working visa" is not true.
Here is a post from the Military.com, Recruiting for Non-Citizens thread. It is from SSG Rivera.
If you have a vaild I551 Card, (Resident/"Green" Card) yes you can Join the ARMY.

My sentiments are with you, MSantor. I also had an interest in NOQC, did not asked for any favors from cousins and uncles in the service for help but I sure did wasted a lot of energy and time while I was at it. In the long run, I got fed up and told myself finally, naaaah...I already have an M.A. and a good job at that time. Why waste that for a childhood dream that just wont die? I eventually ended up joining the Army reserves and still enjoyed the benefits my job and being with my family most of the time. Don't worry, you'll get over it in due time. If not, then go ahead and take the risk of leaving everything there and apply here.
Kung talagang para sa bayan, wag paawat hangga't may malasakit ka pa...
ian - February 16, 2006 02:00 PM (GMT)
BTT,
Anyone here actually went through NOQC? If you did, could you provide details on what is covered on the year long training? Like, how long is the 'boot camp' type of training, when do you guys start to go easy, how often are weekend passes, breaks, etc.
Thanks.

if you are really interested in joining, do the following:
1. check your age; you could be under age by now
2. go home
3. upon landing, cut your hair, or better word shave your hair,
4. jog every day, to be fit
5. after 30 days, if you can jog an at least 30 kms and you can still do 150 push-ups after such
6. visit & inquire at fort bonifacio
then go back in this thread and ask your questions :closed:

dalmaciongarmas - January 19, 2007 01:27 AM (GMT)
good morning sirs,
do you want to join , the few and the proud ?
the Marine Corps needs volunteers , specially the Officer Corps
the Corps will conduct its pioneer class for Marine Officer Candidate Course
Initial requirement are as follows:
1) at least 5'6" in height
2) Degree holder (pls bring diploma / TR)
3) 18 to 25 yrs old
4) good moral character
5) Physically / Mentally fit
6) a VOLUNTEER
drop by the Office of the Marine Corps Staff for Personnel, MC1 at Marine Barracks Manila, Ft Bonifacio , Taguig City for inquiries.
ctrlaltdel - January 19, 2007 03:31 AM (GMT)
the marines have a higher height requirement than the army?
why is it so?
Tantalus - January 19, 2007 05:04 AM (GMT)
Why is it so?
Because the Marines want to stand taller than the rest of the AFP :fire:
ian - January 19, 2007 11:34 AM (GMT)
Sir, is the MOCC similar to the Army's OCC where advance ROTC is not required? How long is the course duration? Do applicants need to become a Navy officer first before taking MOCC or can they apply directly from a civilian status? Thanks.
dalmaciongarmas - January 19, 2007 11:56 PM (GMT)
sir ian,
to my knowledge, MOCC is open to civilians, it is the same as Army OCC. During the 90's when there was still an AFP training command, this was a source of army, navy, air force officers combined. But when the TRACOM was deactivated, the Officer Candidate School (OCS) was decentralized to the Major Services.
The three services already have their own OCCs. The Marines requested a class of MOCC and not NOCC to get additional officers to their lines. At present almost half of the class is already processing. Mostly, are young PFCs , Cpls who are College degree holders already. (yes, they enlisted even if they are college graduates, just to serve the Corps).
Advance ROTC is not required . Course duration - more or less 12 months . . .
Hope to see you soon . . . . .

Sir,
Eto na po ba ang pinalit sa MBOC?
dalmaciongarmas - March 14, 2007 09:40 AM (GMT)
sir recondo,
Nope this is not a replacement for MBOC.
MOCC is a pre-entry course while MBOC / MOBC is already a basic career course. MBOC is not a source of commissionship but rather a prereq course for ALL Marine Lts.
Before, there used to be MOOC - Marine Officer Orientation Course - for BUGs and OCIANS and MBOC for MS 43 , Charlies, Mustangs etc.
However, the Corps decided that there should only be 1 Basic Officer Course for all Marines irregardless of where or what school they came from. This is to develop the camaraderie between the 2lts be they be regulars or reserve.
will you be joining sir ? ? we accept volunteers . . .
see you
