Ano yung rifle marksmanship para sa Philippine Army? In other words, what standard does an enlisted recruit or an officer candidate have to meet in order to PASS boot camp?
Do they judge it by distance or a point system like the US Marine Corps? I heard that USMC recruits and OCS candidates have to shoot consistently with a M16A2 rifle at 300 yards at the standing, sitting and prone positions.
I think they have three levels:
190 points<more = marksman ("pizza box")
200+ points = sharpshooter
214 points= expert
Correct me if I'm wrong on the figures above. Still, do PA recruits and OCS candidates have a similar standard?

Based on our new Rifle Marksmanship Doctrine Manual, every Army personnel must be able to "battlesight zero" his own rifle. It means that he must be able to hit man-sized targets presented at various distances up to 250m without any changes on the sight setting. To achieve this, during shot grouping exercise and the subsequent near zero (NZ) sight setting, the soldiers are required to hit a 3cm (about 1.2inches) bullseye at 25m. With additional training on advanced marksmanship applications of fire, a soldier is even required to hit up to 400m by manipulating the rear sight (L-Mark) of his M16A1 Rifle.
The new Rifle Marksmanship Qualification

No W/E changes will be allowed while shooting from 50m (standing), 100m (kneeling), 150m (standing to kneeling), 200m and 250m (standing to prone). 33-38 hits ----Marksman
39-44 hits ----Sharpshooter
45-50 hits ----Expert
By publishing our own doctrine as guide, we tried our best to avoid "competition mentality" marksmanship training which focuses more on scores than shot groups and number of hits. The new marksmanship program implemented by the Marksmanship Training Unit is battle-focused and adapts to the present needs of our line units in the field. :sniper:
