This is a very sad and intriguing incident as it happened inside a presumed tight security premises and a very close to the Headquarters of the PNP-CIDG which is housed inside 4th ID Camp Evangelista, Patag, Cagayan de oro City. I am very familiar with the place because I was once posted there during my time with the CIS. (now CIDG)
Hoping to get posted on any development of the case.

With due respect to the victim, the root of this unfortunate event is the culture of bullying and treating subordinates as menservants disguised as discipline which is common in the army.
A bullied subordinate is not a disciplined subordinate but an abused weakling.
This culture should be looked into to curb out it's proliferation to get rid of this incident happening again. :armyeek:

Well that culture is indoctrinated to you when you enlist. Remove all your civilian attitudes, kailangan
"Utak Militar". And sometimes up to the point that they want that culture imposed on the people and civilian authorities. And it's even being adapted within the civilian PNP.
And when pushed to the limits,

The real truth is it started from there, but no one will notice it because both the abuser and the abused are bound to the stupid code of silence and bury the facts of ugly incidents under the carpet and behind the closet of restriction.

Remember the Korean soldier who massacred his fellows including his officers?
Another result of the way they breed the officers in PMA. Yes, hazing has its own time bringing out the result of what you did then.
Hazing breeds abusive officers.
Team spirit is not molded by showing brutality or hurting your peers, especially the people you are responsible to.
Team spirit is molded and enhanced by compassion and by showing that YOU VALUE YOUR TEAMMATES.
The Marines' "buddy-buddy" system is one effective way of developing team spirit.
Hazing and breeding "stupid" and brutal soldiers results to the same outcome as the Korean soldier's story.
REMEMBER THAT RESPECT IS EARNED AND IS NOT GAINED FROM COERCION OR MALTREATMENT.
Because, when in dire situations, the only one you can count on is the man beside you.
If you've got team spirit, you know you have someone who will help you survive the battle.
If the other guy is keeping a grudge against you, that guy himself will make your worst nightmare.
Just like what might have happened in that CDO camp. The shooter may have lost all his compassion to his officer and thought that the victim deserves the bullet anyway.
Now, choose the path in molding your team.

There is only one word to be observed to discourage if not eradicate these ugly incidents between superiors and subordinates - it is the word "RESPECT ".
-Rights of the subordinates should be respected in the same way as the superiors.
- Subordinates should not be used as private errands as they are only intended for official errands in connection with their job in accordance with the SOP that should be adherred to.- This is what we call "Professional "respect.
- Personal and domestic problems of subordinates should be addressed, so that counselling can be done - this is called "Personal" respect.
- Subordinates should never be intimidated, bullied, and scolded in the presence of other individuals - this is " respecting individual pride.
These few tips are not difficult but the greatness of its effectiveness and impact is enormous .

Here's another one:
Captain shot dead by subordinate in Fort Bonifacio By Joel Francis Guinto
INQ7.net
(UPDATE) AN ARMY Captain was shot dead by his subordinate inside Fort Bonifacio on Thursday morning after he was punished for not reporting for duty the night before, a spokesman said.
The officer was pronounced dead on arrival at the Fort Bonifacio Hospital while the attacker who shot himself on the head died at around 12 noon, Major Bartolome Bacarro said.
The soldier shot his superior with an M16 rifle inside the
Howitzer Battery Barracks at the Security Escort Compound at around 9:05 a.m., Bacarro said. He refused to name them.
"This is an isolated incident," Bacarro told reporters when asked if the shooting was related to an alleged plot to unseat President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
On Wednesday, Army Chief Lieutenant General Hermogenes Esperon said 14 junior officers were questioned for allegedly plotting the overthrow of Arroyo, who remains hounded by allegations that she cheated in the 2004 election.
Esperon said some of the 14 were released after they told on the other alleged coup plotters and renewed their pledge of loyalty to the chain of command.

I am very keen to know what kind of punishment did the Captain imposed on that subordinate that prompted the shooting.
Incidents like this are sometimes an offshoot of a punishment not in balance or in line with the proper norms of discipline towards subordinates, sometimes overstepping the mark that can be felt as a deliberate"abuse".
This "Nazic" culture should be discouraged if not eradicated from the Military environment to prevent unnecessary loss of lives within the outfit that can surely be a good news and amusement for the enemy.

Napakasakit para sa akin kung tayo-tayo ang magpapatayan. Dapat nating tratuhin ang bawat isa na isang kapatid. Tayo tayo lang ang magdadamayan kapag nagtagumpay ang pusakal na si Sison. Tortured tayo lahat. Sana naman bago mangyari yaon kung mangyayari eh, we're all still in one piece in a way na walang kahit isa sa atin ang biktima ng iba sa atin. Let's learn to love and forgive each other. Let's not act like the traitorous evil spymasters Philby, Ames, Hansen who compromised their fellow CIA, SIS, and FBI agents. Their evil acts were tantamount to decimating half of the British Army and US Army. Terrible Dastardly acts. Tortured yung na-kompromiso. My heart bleeds for all of those victims.

I just hope this has nothing to do with what is happening today.
