http://www.manilastandardtoday.com/?page=p...e04_july20_2006At least three tons of fish caught by using dynamite were seized while six persons were arrested including members of the Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine Ports Authority by operatives of the National Capital Region-Maritime Office Monday night.
Under the custody are PO1 Cesar Amoguis of the PCG-Manila Station; PFC Ireneo Bueno, PPA investigator; truck owner Roger Bermil of Cavite, along with drivers Dennis Tablente, Edward Sarmiento and Antonio Mansueto.
Maritime operations chief Melvin Laguros said they received information on the arrival of the fish from Coron, Palawan to be disposed in Delpan, Tondo.
He sent a team to mount a stakeout along Road-10 in Navotas, which was able to block three Elf trucks (GRK 419, RCS 910, and TDC 927) loaded with different varieties of blasted fish estimated to weigh more than three tons.
The bulk tested positive for dynamite after samples were tested by licensed examiner Roberto Magdaluyo of the Bureau of Food and Drugs.
While Amoguis, Bermil and Bueno were at the Maritime, they tried to negotiate the release of the seized fish, but were unable to present the required documents.
