Well, I'd rather we befriend them for now and exploit them, the ChiComs, while maintaining and exploiting too to our advantage our relationship with the US. What we should be prepared is to get ourselves ready WHEN not IF these two powers finally clash. As it is, if we are to stick with our present course we'd end up as refugees while our country becomes a battleground.

BTW, I lived in Taiwan for two years- in the Tian Mu area of Taipei where a lot of foreign expats live- and though the local Taiwanese- ben sheng ren- can come off as rude to foreigners, their lack of manners and some Western ideas of decorum should not be a surprise to you, who claims to be Chinoy/overseas Chinese/Hua Qiao/Hua Ren. I just don't think it's right for you to judge and hate the Taiwanese people just because of what you hear on this forum. The Taiwanese are a very democratic people and very hard-working; yes, there are stories of OFWs being abused in Taiwan, but that also happens in mainland China, the Hong Kong SAR region and Singapore.

Also I'm enrolled in Far East studies in University of Toronto as non-matriculant. I'm planning to major in Chinese studies and Chinese literature on my way to my Master's degree.
