I was just wondering though. It looked quite similar to the SAW9 the guys in the other forum is talking about.. these guys belong to the PNP SAF.

Is this locally designed and made? I find the barrel of these guns way too short for a rifle (5.56mm in particular) round, I guess they are limited to close quarters combat.

5.56mm Personal Defense Weapon*

f l o r o  has developed the 5.56mm Personal Defense Weapon (5.56mm PDW) for
conventional forces as a replacement for their 9mm sidearms and submachine
guns.

The PDW uses 5.56mm x 45 NATO ammunition (M193 or SS109) and M16 type
box magazines (20 and 30 round capacity).  This improves ammunition
compatibility requirements among troops while increasing their firepower
effectiveness.  The use of a patented Recoil Reduction System enhances operator
marksmanship and training.  An optional noise suppressor reduces the sound
signature of the 5.56mm PDW for special forces applications.

Using the receiver of and M16, this guns can be manufactured locally, prominent gunsmiths like Tony Pascual and Art Lantin has been doing this modifications for several years now (I have seen some of their works, and they are really work of art). Even the gunsmiths in Danao is also doing this modifications, they call it the "infant armalite" down in Cebu.

Are you sure those guys are from SAF? One of the photos has a Simba in the background painted in PA camo pattern. The photos may be a photo-op of a past exercise by the now defunct (replaced by AFP JSOG) ACTAFP. The weapon is more likely a variant of the Marine Close Quarter Weapon. More likely it is a modified M16 (shorter barrel, different buffer mechanism/stock)
