.... well SUPPORTED....and led by ABLE LEADERS WHO KNOW HOW TO DO THINGS RIGHT.
WARRIORS NEED CONSTANT SKILLS IMPROVEMENT AND EDUCATION TO BETTER HANDLE THE EVER-CHANGING SCENARIOS IN THE BATTLEFIELDS.

This one tells a lot.
Sgt. Thomas manifested the attribute of finest breed of professional, dedicated, intelligent and chivalrous soldiers.
"Yes. 30, 40 meters, with people. Targets. I know it sounds awfully cruel and it's something you gotta deal with, later on in life, but at the time --
-- I didn't shoot a man who was running across the street who probably has a family at home. I shot a man who had a weapon who was pointing it at me or at one of my friends. " - :thumb: :thumb:
Sgt.Thomas was a US Army Ranger, 1991-1997. He was squad leader on Chalk III -- Super Six Six. He roped in to the street corner by Olympic Hotel. At the time of the 1993 Mogadishu firefight, he was 27 years old.
LET'S HOPE THAT PINOY SOLDIERS WILL LEARN FROM THAT ONE. :mademyd:

So What are you trying to imply here that Filipino soldires will just indiscriminately fire at Civilians????Take a Look at your firends, they assasinated Tabara and his Daugthers boyfriend. Dude you are barking a the wrong tree.

You think the Seargeant would tell the world about the collateral damage?? when you are in a firefight, you make split seconds decisions. He who hesitates will get capped.

Di naman ganun kaibigan.
This is just one way of reminding the soldiers, you guys, no matter what happens in the battlefield, you must maintain how one should think and act under these circumstances or under extreme pressure.
Marami kasi ang sundalo na nakakalimitan yan.
Nakita mo ba yung isang sundalo nung ginaganap yung Lamitan siege?
Imagine huh?
Let's not take that as an offense but as a reminder instead.
Yung collateral damage ay understandable ....AS LONG AS IT IS NOT INTENTIONAL OR OUT OF INDISCRIMINATE FIRING.

That US Army Ranger even implied that HE DON'T USUALLY FIRE HIS WEAPON WHEN HIS RUNNING..COZ THAT WONT HIT THE RIGHT TARGET.
HE ONLY SHOOT WHEN HE IS DEAD SURE THAT HE'LL BE HITTING THE RIGHT TARGET.
...SERVING THOSE HE SWRON TO SERVE....WITH DIGNITY AND PRIDE. :thumb: :thumb:

..and you aren't rebels.
....YOU ARE THE DEFENDERS OF THE FILIPINO PEOPLE.
That tactic is expected of rebel groups. Those actions must nonetheless be hit by the civil society. The Human Rights advocates and NGOs must criticize this one.
But ofcourse, when you join either side, then expect that there'll be THOSE KIND OF RISKS.
That's why you are also there to counter that threat.
You must keep that distinction of being the opposite of what you are tasked to hunt down.
ELSE, YOU'LL LOSE THE PEOPLE'S SYMPATHY TO YOUR ENEMIES...BECAUSE THESE REBELS ARE OFTENTIMES CLOSER TO THE PEOPLE THAT YOU'VE SWORN TO PROTECT BECAUSE THEY INTERACT MORE OFTEN THAN YOU GUYS :aberet:

Even their US air strikes in Iraq is similar to that.
Pero that's a different situation.
:dunno:
flipzi - September 28, 2004 03:35 AM (GMT)
at fault na din ng Somalis to some extent kasi lumusog din sila eh. Siyempre defensive action na yung part ng US. May lumulusob sa lahat ng sides. Kuyog kungbaga.
or anything else pa?

can you site any solution? any strategy? :demon:
it's hard to comment if you're not on the situation.. kasi ang mga naisip natin na solution.. you won't remember it pag nasa combat ka na.. it's not a bed of roses where you have the luxury of time to think.. quarter of a second late means death for you ang your troops.
flipzi - September 28, 2004 05:56 AM (GMT)
That's true but there was (as it seemed) something that they did not consider much.
Intel, that is.
Why penetrate the city when you damn well know that all that are living there sympathize with the target...AND ALL ARE ALMOST ARMED.
Even the best of Spec Ops troops (maski Scout Rangers pa) wont be able to survive that environment without losing some or worst, no one will get out of there alive.
That place was a trap.
They should have learned how much resistance they would get if ever they penetrate that city .... and the weapons of their enemy.
Imagine, the Blackhawks flew very low and the buildings were high enough to be a good position for hostile element holding an RPG.
That means they somewhat miscalculated the strength and the possible reactions they could get from the people living there. Mobs made that battle worst.
But this is just my view. :dunno:
They should have fielded a less noticeable force or protected the troopers with APCs.
They could not have gotten out there if not for the APCs provided by the UN base right?
When Spec Ops is concerned, the enemies number and might MUST BE CONSIDERED to make it a success.
When Spec Ops loses stealth, precise intel info and the element of surprise.... then their offensive move turns into the defensive side.
Summer 2000 Campaign launched against the MILF and Somalia incident have proven that.
But then again, that's just my observation.

well fed?
SRs admitted though that they'd rather open a can of sardines than prepare that messy dish.... WHEN THEY ARE IN THE FIELD.
It's about time they enhance this one.
Imagine less weight but much better food?
