Title: Batallion Combat Force

flipzi - May 27, 2007 09:19 AM (GMT)
It seems like the BCT/BCF is not being effective at these times.

It is also possible that in the case of the Scout Rangers, the setup is taking the SRBs off the areas where they are needed.

It's sort of limiting their mobility and deployment.

I believe the old setup, company-sized units or SRCs are effective in most areas. The battalion-sized units are good for areas where the enemy's firepower and number are overwhelming, like in the case of Mindanao.

In other areas, like in Samar, Masbate, Bikol, Calabarzon, Bulacan, Negros, Siera Madre and Eastern Mindanao, the SRCs will be most effective.

With this, i believe the Scout Rangers Companies should be increased as well as that of the Special Forces Regiment. The SF companies will provide the presence of strike teams in areas not being served by the SRCs.

I believe that every rebel hotbet should be deployed with a company of SRs or SFs. These teams in coordination with MIBs and the Division Recon Companies and the rest of the men from the IDs will undertake surprise attacks or special operations to neutralize the backbone of the rebel forces in the affected areas.

The govt, especially the DND should always consider what the foot soldiers need in order to ensure the success of every encounter.

1) Air Mobility - for fast insertion and extraction of troops. Night and day mobility is a must.

2) Air Strikes - more attack choppers to provide fire cover and fire suppression for the advancing troops and to prevent the troops from being overrun when scenario suddenly turns the tide in favor of the rebel forces.

3) Fixed-wing attack aircrafts - MRFs like the JAS39 or other platforms can provide a day or night heavy air strike to destroy enemy formations and defense fortifications.

4) Improvement of intel network down to the barranggay level.

5) Speed up the development of road networks and communication facilities and other projects that can help spur growth in the affected areas.

6) Setting up of more forward-military bases by the IDs to provide a tighter space for rebel movement. More foot patrols serving as recon for the SRs and SFs will be a good setup.

7) More APCs and tanks for bases or vulnerable areas to repel attacking forces.

Point is;

MORE COMPANY-SIZED SPEC OPS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

MORE AIR SUPPORT.

MORE INTEL UNITS.

MORE APCS AND TANKS.

The company-sized spec ops or the BCFs should be supported with the needed air support and all. Maybe, the AFP/DND should consider this;

Glad that you noticed that, Jammer.

I've considered all of it, in fact. Check the number of aircrafts for Butuan. I also added Cauayan, Naga, Tacloban and Roxas City for the deployment of attack and transport choppers.

Butuan is a strategic base that's why I also emphasized the transfer of the Airlift Wing from Cebu to this part of Mindanao. A squadron of MRFs will also be a good strategic approach in guarding the soutwestern border. The base in Ilocos Norte, Palawan, Rajah Buayan, Mactan, Villamor, Zambo and Basa are of strategic importance as well.

You will also notice that "Strike Wing" at Sangley Air Station (Atienza) is moved to Basa and Butuan since these areas provide a more strategic location for these assets.

By the way, this is the updated list. With this setup (especially the discreet deployment of "COIN or attack aircrafts plus the transport aircrafts) i am sure that our military will have a great chance of addressing any threat from any the rebel and terrorist groups. In fact, this may be the key to defeating the rebellion and terrorism.

We can now strike the enemy hard at ANY GIVEN OPPORTUNITY.

More APCs are really needed to protect the bases and enhance the firepower at checkpoints.

Probably, for this base security enhancement we can use the "indigenous armoured vehicles" being developed by Steelcraft.

The 30. or .50 cal machinegun and night-vision equipment are a must since the rebels are now conducting night assaults more often.

This is also a perpect armoured vehicle for the Police Mobile Groups deployed in rebel-infested areas and the police checkpoints.

The attack on the Davao Penal facility could have been avoided if the facilyt have several of these.

The rebels carted away a hundred of high-powered firearms.

Checkpoints leading to such facility should also have these.

The foot soldiers are happy about the new Harris radio.

They lack one basic equipment though. MOST OF THE TROOPS, doing patrols and manning "advance post" dont have NVGs yet.

Some guys form the IDs doing the usual patrols and most of the manuevers say they could have performed better if they had these NVGs.

The NVGs and the air support come first in their wish list.
