Hmmm. It would be nice if we could get hold of info of that combat boot na marketed as mine-resistant. I forgot which country is marketing it (Singapore ata). We could do an analysis of it here then apply that technology not only to our home-grown armored vehicles but even to our ordinary soldiers.

It's not possible since the blast will not be concentrated on the bottom of the boots.

The metal boots will surely keep your feet intact .. BUT EXPECT THAT YOUR LEGS ARE NOW TOTALLY SEPARATED AND YOUR ASS TOTALY MASHED!

What's possible is that the boots is fitted with a metal detector that can make a forward scanning as far as 3 meters that can warn the soldier before stepping on the possible anti-personnel mine.

The scanner can be made small enough to be fitted on the shin part of the boots.

I think it's posible.

Imagine, you get the beep or vibration that warns you that there's a possible land mine a few meters ahead?

Or the tip of the boot carries a small metal detector that "lead men" in a squad can activate by a switch.

The lead man can then use it to scan the road while slowly navigating the pathway.

The better alternative is a more powerful scanner fitted on the shin that can scan metals 3 meters ahead.

Once the beep is heard, the leadman then homes in on the possible mine using the scanner and marks it. He then continious his pace after marking the mine.

Most anti-personnel mines are too powerful.

The best protection is detection, so you dont step on it.

If someone stepped on a landmine wearing this boot. the only thing you'll be seeing will be a mangled boot with a foot inside 60ft away. I doubt if anyone can survive the G-forces during the explosive impact.

actually these boot may have its use against air/artillery delivered scatterable mines.

the anti personnel version of these were used extensively by the americans in vietnam (they called it "ice") and only had small amounts of explosive

It was designed to impede VC movement. they lie aboveground, but camouflaged and in battle stress conditions, they were effective specially against the partially trained irregulars.

however these boots must weigh a lot. :lollol:
