(Update) NBI seizes 200 more fireams in Makati raid

MANILA, Philippines - National Bureau of Investigations (NBI) agents seized over 200 firearms in a raid at a condominium unit in Makati City Thursday morning, a radio report said.

In its report, radio dzXL quoted Edward Villarta of the NBI - National Capital Region as saying that most of the guns found in the condo unit were 9-mm pistols. Twenty high-powered rifles and five crates of various ammunition were also confiscated.

The condo unit in Legaspi Village, Makati city reportedly belongs to Benjo Ramos, a suspected member of a major gun syndicate operating in Asia.

Ramos is already being pursued by the Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG), the radio report said.

Earlier, NBI agents also seized at least 50 firearms from a gun store raid in Makati City after discovering that the guns lacked proper importation documents. - Johanna Camille Sisante, GMANews.TV

It is quite surprising and intriguing how this imported weapons get through our borders and ended up stocked in a metropolitan apartment without the necessary documentations.

Mr. Ramos might have some strong connections to achieve this illegal importation thus a thorough investigation is warranted to ferret out the identity of his cohorts controlling our borders.

The investigation must be backtracked from the very first and immediate transit point of those illegally imported weapons.

It is very interesting to keep track on how the investigation unfolds.

And let us hope that it would not be an endless wait for the outcome as it unfolds or rather be sorry for knowing that it has been swept under the carpet.

My opinion is that Nothing will happen in this case at least anytime soon.... Someone got doublecrossed or not paid and this is the revenge. Depending on the quality of weapons and ammunition... if the govt was smart they would cut a deal with him cause he has shown himself to be very resourceful and could cut out a lot of middlemen in the future in procuring weapons. Obviously it has been going on for quite sometime as they have a (office) in makati... no telling but that bust could have been the smallest bust yet and this gang has been in business for a while. Probably came from Danao but most likely locally made in Cavite or someplace out of the way. Importation most likely not cause not many have the means to purchase and resell at a profit there in Phils. Its probably a diversionary quote to throw people off.
No one with that sort of money goes to jail unless he was the last lowly person designated to be the fall guy once this operation was discovered.

The facts of the article made mention about importation documents which means that it has originated from overseas.

One can imagine that if the alleged smuggler has been engaged in this nefarious trade for sometime, it clearly demonstrated the laxity of our border security that weapons can easily slip into our borders for terrorist activities, and can be highly aggravated by the corrupt practices of individuals tasked to protect our borders.

In my view, the reason why this has been busted is maybe somebody from the government who were in cahoots with Mr. Ramos (the alleged member of a major gun syndicate) double crossed him to achieve a "double take".

Why would anybody be surprise ? This country is a free-for-all when it comes to great magnitudes of government scam deal.
