Title: Light armored car suggestion
Description: ---Panhard PVP

If the PA is not interested in the indigenous MX8 Barako AEV because of its numerous defects, then maybe the Panhard PVP could be just right for the intended role as Armored Escort Vehicle. It's already in full production mode so there's no need for extended prototype testing.
The French Army ordered 933 PVPs worth $233M in various configurations: troop carrier (5 fully equipped soldiers), anti-aircraft, anti-tank, mortar carrier, scout, etc..
The PVP weighs 5 metric tons and is powered by 160hp diesel engine.

also for police duty:

So pwede ring pinturahan ng puti or blue yung mx-8 kung maibenta ito sa mga security agencies.

why is that so expensive when it just looks like an armored Renegade jeep :armyeek:

Labor in europe is expensive. Plus they probably designed the vehicle from the ground up, including the underchassis components.
I think the Army doesn't like too many flat vertical surfaces. makes it easier target for RPG rounds.

Its a bit expensive relative to the MX8 (P11million based on the total contract price above as posted by mr. mazingu) because it uses advanced components and better armor - composite aluminum, ceramic, steel for Stanag 2 level of protection.
The vehicle also has the French SIT battlefield information system installed which adds to the overall cost.
The French army will actually employ this vehicle mostly in the rear areas, main frontline light armored duties will be handled by the Panhard VBL.

Panhard makes solid armored vehicles.
Hopefully this PVP and the VBL will be part of the AFP inventory in the future.

I think Steelcraft will look into it's specification, for remodification of the Barako, aminin man natin o hindi, may fatal flaw pa rin yung barako, so it still must look for changes in setup :salute:

Not the looks sir, but the materials and the equipment that make this vehicle a bit pricey.

Looks like a Bank Armor Car but i dont think this vehicle can sustain a RPG attack but the MX8 is as tough as the SIMBA. Design Flaws in the MX8? Never read it so far here and the problem with MX8 is the BUDGET ALLOCATION to mass produce it.
Anyway there is no such thing as PERFECT DESIGN but the MX8 is design for intense combat in places like Mindanao. Army RND should look at the design of the ROSOMAK which is instilling fear among the TALIBAN ranks. Current MX8 is best as for COST vs EFFECTIVENESS vehicle that we can come-up.
The budget was instead use to buy Korean KIA Troop Carrier trucks for mobility of troops.
Just wait by next year 2009 and you will see lots of MX8 rolling down the streets of Metro Manila with their 50calibre machine gun mounted (Military version) and perhaps a 7.62mm MG mounted version for PNP. Also an advanced version MX8 installing a remote-controlled gun turret- Mapua design and engineered.
