Title: troop carriers

I wonder why the AFP always opt to get imported troop carriers, why dont they just contact "SARAO" or "FRANCISCO MOTORS". I think their vehicles ar as or more powerful than those Kia's, then just add armor for more protection..

And I also wonder why the army doesnt use gun trucks, are those exclusive for marine use only?

... actually we can do it, the problem is their is no financial support coming from the government, i think they will go for imported vehicles than being made here...

Sarao and Francisco Motors had closed shops years ago.

There are still some jeepney manufacturers plus we can always start the idea of finally replacing those jeepneys with something more practical and efficient. Convert those jeepneys then into something like a small half-track or export them.

Unlike the Marines, the Army is not very keen on improvising their trucks into gun trucks.

Because we havent yet have one successful mass produced local vehicle manufacturing facility. The jeepneys are custom made and a backyard talyer business that is cheaper to manufacture using recycled metal and parts but if mass produced it will be too expensive.

Not unless you want a rag tag army ala mad max with inconsistent troop transport that each vehicle is unique.

Our local manufacturing prowess relies to the success of the MX8 and PHUV project. That is why we should embrace those products even if its sucks to jumpstart the local industry.

Troop carriers are being made with well known light trucks as host. There are L-300, Elfs, Canters, Isuzus and even multi-cabs in the back to back configuration.

the army can start with those vehicles... then do other designs and modification in the near future...
