In California, I watched segments of a TV special on ANC "Crossroads" show on ABS-CBN today that was titled "How reliable is the Philippine Air Force" most of the stuff in the show we already know, the PAF's problems, funding, etc. The only thing mentioned there was that for this year yata the PAF got 1.6 billion of the 5 billion pesos modernization.

The show will be replayed tomorrow sunday then again on monday. just check Direct TV guide for the exact times.

in another recent news article, it mentions that the Philippine Army also gets 1.6 billion of the 5 billion yearly modernization program, since the PAF gets 1.6 billion for modernization yearly, then the Philippine navy might possibly be getting 1.6 billion or even more since the Marines is like the 4th branch

yup, and it already is in the pipeleinel ike this:$13million for 18 Marchetti trainers from Alenia italy, 7 $7M for 18 T41 trainers from SK, p1.2B for 8 night capable attack choppers currently bidded out, hopefully ex marine AH1W's hopefully. There was a separate 8 night capable utitlity chopper tender but was axed. Maybe realigned for additionalfunding of 2 refurbished c130's from the mactan graveyard....lets keep em coming gents! :fire:

should it be divided equally at 1.6b per service branch?

I think it should be based on what branch needs the most according to predetermined priorities.

I wont be surprised it the winning bidder for the attack chopper is the cobra because if my memory is correct, it meets the payload requirement and the documentation does not require the winning bidder to deliver brandnew choppers.

Its the utility chopper bidding that has a requirement of "brand-new" , again if my memory is correct haha

logically yes, but what if these insurgency issue continues forever? then logically, the army will get the lion's share leaving the navy out cold. The PAF will be in-between since choppers will be needed to help the army while the navy will get the token transport ships.

its a tough call when the modernization budget is so small. *sigh* hirap ng buhay

I Say!. PAF Should go forward with the purchase of 8 AH-1W Super Cobra Helicopters!.. Wether it will come from the US Marine Corps Stocks or simply buy a factory produce model of the AH-1W Super Cobra Helicopters.. As for the Combat Utility Helicopters.. I Say, the AGUSTA-WESTLAND AW-101 Helicopter is the best choice!.. :rifle: :specool:
