Switzerland selling surplus military equipment.......

The United Arab Emirates and Chile are buying surplus Swiss Army weapon systems. The related contracts have already been signed.

Weapons and systems made redundant to Swiss requirements by the downsizing of the armed forces, or by the procurement of more modern weapons, are offered for sale to foreign armed forces. Two new contracts have recently been signed in this respect:

-- The United Arab Emirates are buying 180 M-113 armored personnel carriers belonging to the Swiss Army;

-- A contract has been signed for the sale of 24 M-109 self-propelled artillery guns to Chile.

The contractual partner for both buyers is the RUAG company. A major industrial program is tied to the sale of these vehicles, which will be refurbished and fitted out by RUAG Land Systems.

Both sales are still subject to approval by Swiss and United States authorities. Swiss law requires an export license for the export of military vehicles from the country. Furthermore, approval by United States authorities is required as these vehicles were originally supplied to Switzerland by the United States.

Its part of a UN sponsored agreement on arms proliferation control. The UN sponsored a charter of arms sales procedures gov't implements their own corresponding laws to comply even mutual agreements have been amended. This particular issue is the clause on transhipment and third party destination. According to the UN framework, All countries who wish to dispose arms not made locally (purchase from foreign suppliers) are compelled to inform the source country and should give their conformance of transfer of arms to a third party. It applies even to Singapore.

It just so happen that most of Singaporean arms export technology have Israeli in origin and Israel always conform to whoever you sell it to. That's why it seems like it is nonexistent, but it does, you guys just do it efficiently. It's all business, remember?

well i understand your point now...
its why its very advantageos for country to have its own weapons industry than depend on other countrys for weapons supply..

this is should what the philippines should take into very great consideration and not depend more on giveaways from usa..

austria is planning to sell excess military hardwares such as M-60 MBT, Drakken fighterjets, Steyr AUG-77 Stürmgewehr(old model). They are expecting to acquire early next year Eurofighters and Leopard2 MBT so they want to get rid of this old stuff as soon as possible.
