Description: NBI Employment

Greetings!

I'm Vince fron Q.C and I'm planning to join the NBI as Special Investigator. I'd appreciate any information regarding the recruitment process and the training in the NBI.

Thanks!

AFAIK the recruitment process is quite stringent, my lawyer cousin passed and even exceeded other qualifications for NBI Agent but his application was denied due to a depth perception problem in his eyesight which was discovered during the physical exam.

the pay is not huge so no topnotch lawyer or CPA from the best schools in his right mind would join the NBI which means only the mediocre lawyers/CPAs (those with no prospects of lucrative private practice or corporate employment) apply.

Actually, to become a seasoned criminal lawyer, employment with the NBI for a start is a great help these days. I was with the police before I became a lawyer. I stayed for a couple of years before I quit. I would have joined the NBI but it's true, the bread is not so appealing.

Thank you all for the feedback, but suppose money is not a factor? Anyone can tell me what life is in the NBI?

i took their entrance exam in manila way back in 2002 and after 2 months i made a follow up with nbi training div and was informed that i passed the exam but i was told to wait for the next interview schedule.i stayed for another 3 months in manila waiting for the schedule until i decided to go back to our province while waiting.i didn't receive any info until 2004.i was asked to report to nbi manila for the initial interview & medical examination.i reported then i was told to wait for the result of the exam for another 1 week but my budget was only good for 3 days so i was forced to go home.

hindi ko na natuloy ang plan ko to apply as SI since i have to travel all the way to manila and na ubos na rin ang savings ko.for me it is not easy for a probinsyano to apply sa nbi since centralized ang recruitment nila.

now i'm working for another law enforcement agency.

if you think you have met all the requirements sir saver posted then i encourage you to take the shot at it.better have a 50-50 chance of getting accepted than none at all.

i never regreted that i didn't made it all the way due to financial constraints but the experience gave me ideas/tips on surviving recruitment process.

Godspeed to you and i hope you'll make it.

Thanks scuttlebutt. Medyo matagal pala, 2 years din yun ah. Anyway, I'm still debating on whether to pursue it or not. Does anyone here have an experience in working as an agent or SI? It'll be nice to learn about their day's work.

scuttlebutt - December 14, 2008 03:09 PM (GMT)
no prob vince.

i've been working with nbi people from time to time but i don't consider myself an authority about their day to day work.iba ang set up nila sa amin.

why don't you try other law enforcement agencies like pnp, pdea atbp.?

vin.suarez - December 15, 2008 01:30 AM (GMT)
Why? What's the difference? Ano ang setup ng NBI?

I'd also like to join the PNP, but what are the chances that I won't be assigned to do traffic work? Medyo di kasi maganda reputation ng mga police dun.
