Title: PMC Training progression, standards
Description: news and discussions

Ano yung rifle marksmanship para sa Philippine Marine Corps? In other words, what standard does an enlisted recruit or an officer candidate have to meet in order to PASS boot camp?
Do they judge it by distance or a point system like the US Marine Corps? I heard that USMC recruits and OCS candidates have to shoot consistently with a M16A2 rifle at 300 yards at the standing, sitting and prone positions.
I think they have three levels:
190 points<more = marksman ("pizza box")
200+ points = sharpshooter
214 points= expert
Correct me if I'm wrong on the figures above. Still, do PMC recruits and OCS candidates have a similar standard?
:fire:

300 yards for USMC? hmm... I thought it'd be more.

That range is just for regular riflemen, not Scout Snipers like the ones you see in
"Jarhead" the movie, who shoot much farther- some even use the M82 Barett 50 Cal!

I never saw the movie, I just thought it was pretty short, that's all. hOw many meters is 300 yards?
On a side note, how was "Jarhead"?

I have a few questions.. what is the training progression in the PMC? (meaning what comes after basic training.. more school? specialty schools?) how long is basic training? and some details on the Force Recon course (i.e. prerequisites and what is the training like)
thank

Please understand sir that no one here will answer such detailed questions.

sorry hehe.. umm.. 1 question though.. can a marine straight out of boot camp go for the force recon course?
fatbat_mca - January 12, 2009 04:48 AM (GMT)
to force recon direct from boot camp is rare but is possible for exceptional marines.

Well, the military is one big training organization, not familiar with EP schooling but before an officer is commissioned he needs to attend NOQC (Naval Officers Qualification Course since PMC is under PN), then once commissioned, he needs to attend the Basic Officer's Course. Before promotion to Captain, one needs to have the advance officer's course.
Then an officer needs to go through General Staff College before being promoted to full colonel.
On top of this, an officer can opt to get qualification badges such as Airborne, SCUBA, Pilot Training, or Force Recon. Then there are also cross-training with other units such as the PA Special Forces, Scout Rangers, PAF's SPOW and PN's SWAG.
I might be wrong in some though
