Wow! The MX8 looks great in the picture!

The PNP really needs this vehicle since they are now getting involved more in the COIN ops.

This is a good timing for the PNP, in parnership with Steelcraft, they can refine the Barako to its requirements. Early enough before the AFP finally relinquish COIN ops.

Then eventually, when the PNP will take over the bulk of the COIN ops from the AFP, they'd be really ready and ....... equipped enough.

Suggestions for the PNP Barako;

1) Night Vision  (vital)

2) GPS

3) Grenade Launchers

4) Flare dispensers (vital)

5) Satcom or "better than usual" communications systems (vital)

6) a longer Barako, (6 wheeler type) must also be built as an APC for inserting commando troops

7) a 50 caliber gun must also be used for areas confronted with heavily armed rebels. they need this to destroy enemy fortifications and in even enemy vehicles.  (vital)

8) 30 cal guns are suitable in the urban terrain like Davao, Gensan, Zambo and Cotabato, Iligan. The lesser caliber ensures much less collateral damage

Just don't know if it could withstand this

Ambush

We will only know in the event of an actual ambush (God forbid) in the absence of realistic mine resistance testing.

Looks just right though for police duty. :thumb:

Hope the PNP acquires several to really find out the operational effectiveness of the Barako.

If that was a testing for the MX-8, they should have also tested the MX-1 and go in tandem

the long-forgotten Kalakian, the PNP should revive it too.

why is the turret weapon shrouded, would it not interfere with the weapon's operation in case the patrol ran into an ambush?

That's right.

Just put the MX1 back online and make the necessary fix in its design.

This will serve as the SAF's APC/FSV.

no worry, the machine gun round can easily penetrate the canvas cover.

The turret of the PNP MX8 is different form the original. It's higher/taller, giving it a better view of the surrounding and a better angle for training the gun.

My only concern here is that the shape (semi V-shape) might not deflect a blast effectively when a projectile hits the lower part of the turret. The blast is somewhat trapped there and not deflected.

It may only be negligible though since an RPG today will really damage the turret no matter how angled it is.

The better design would be a wider circumference at the base and then sloped to top part. This somehow can deflect the blast (M203, rifle grenades) and provide a degree of survivability.

I believe the original turret has a good base. Just make it a little higher and sloped to the top part.

The MX-9 Barako is best suited to
be used by the PNP-SAF in Sulu and the PNP RMG in Basilan,
to support the AFP.
What's the use of the SAF armored vehicles in
Camp Crame if not used in Mindanao?
