Twelve people have been confirmed dead when a motorized boat capsized at Balahibong Manok Point off Batangas province, Saturday afternoon.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) unit in Batangas said motor boat Kumander Sais, carrying an undetermined number of passengers, sank after being hit by big waves around 2 p.m.

The PCG said the boat came from Batangas port and it was on its way to White Beach, Puerto Galera in Mindoro province when it sank.

A radio dzMM report said more than 40 boat passengers have been rescued and brought to hospitals in Mindoro.
