MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Police is seeking to add more police generals in its current administrative line-up as it seeks to reorganize its ranks, Director General Jesus Verzosa said.

Although Verzosa said they could not yet determine how many star-ranking police officials they need, he said the current quota was 90 and they have yet to fill this up.

Star-ranking police officials start from the Chief Superintendent rank and include the Director and Deputy Director General ranks.

"We still have to process a lot of applications for promotions because we still have vacancies in the different ranks," Verzosa told reporters.

The PNP chief also denied that they were promoting undeserved generals, as seven new generals took their oath at Camp Crame.

The PNPA graduates should be given priority otherwise they still are the lowly underdogs of the PNP. If this will still not to be adhered to, then there is still the culture of PNPA graduates treated as second class officers in the very outfit they represent and the very appropriate institution the (PNPA) where they came from. It is quite a shame and revolting that until now non of the PNPA products got the top position in the hierarchy.

The current PNP topdogs are PMAyers, I will not be surprised if majority of the 90 quota will be filled with mistahs. Its just how the game is played.

What Class is the last batch of PMAers at the PNP? Maybe they're taking advantage of all those opportunities/slots.

Sometime years back when officers of the PNP who were from the PNPA released their manifesto outlining and redressing their grievances for being left behind, it aggravated their being swept into a corner of inequity that their promotion is as frozen as the ice of the antartica apart from being threatened with sanctions throwing them away to assignments or posts they do not deserve.

This unholy culture in the PNP co-exist with the resultant corruption in the premier law enforcement agency of this country starting from top to bottom not to mention the ineffectiveness of the police service at the expense of the taxpayers.

I don't see a problem promoting the ayers to general positions as long as they possess the required qualifications. What should be a problem if ayers are ramrodded in even if they are not qualified, and outqualified by PNPA grads.

Sir TOPP, PNPA graduates then has more serious gripes. But what made them different from RAM-SFP and Magdalo is that they (PNPAs) don't take the law to their hands. Since their complaints were not entertained, they still don't act as disgruntled officers throwingn tantrums like what Honasan and Trillanes have been doing. More power to law enforcement officers.
