Title: New pinned topics

MSantor - August 16, 2009 06:40 AM (GMT)
Hello,

I just pinned several notable recurring topics for future reference, some of which a number of you have been known to post updates at, for greater ease of access. Please take a look at these ff. PDFF thread sections to see all the pinned topics:

"World Military News and Issues" PDFF forum section

(In this case, I only chose to pin the country updates threads of only certain countries which were immediate neighbours of the Philippines, such as the "Singapore Armed Forces" thread of "Spiderman", or which have relevance to the RP security situation as future threats, such as the "Iran" and "North Korea threat" threads.)

"World Weapons Systems and Platforms" PDFF forum section

"General Military and Law Enforcement" PDFF forum section

"World Politics and Current Events"PDFF forum section

Please let me know any concerns regarding the pinning of these topics.

Several dozen notable and recurring topics were merged and pinned at the Philippine Army, Navy, PAF, Philippine Coast Guard and PNP forum sections for better ease of access and to keep the discussions going for recurring topics.

A few topics, such as the PAF's 505 Search and Rescue Squadron thread, were also pinned because they were topics that dealt with an integral unit of that service. Others were pinned since they dealt with a very relevant, recurring issue that dealt with the service in question, such as the "Shipbuilding in RP" updates thread, into which all recent threads and updates on both naval architecture and shipbuilding were moved.

As said, if there are any concerns regarding these new pinned topics, please reply here or PM me.

Fellows;

The ideal is around 5 to 10 pins.

That way the pinnings will not be long enough to confuse the readers and keep the list neat. A long list tends to push the other interesting topics out of the page.

I hope that helps.

Boss Santor, please limit your pins to 5 topics, we members can always search for the topic that interest us ourselves.

In accordance with your suggestions, a number of topics were unpinned at the "General Military and Law Enforcement" section and the "World Weapons Systems and Platforms" forum sections so those sections are each less cluttered.

The existing fundamental topics of the forum is just quite enough for posters to post their opinions under the relevant existing topic.

This forum is already overpopulated with topics which has a common relationship with each other that posters are even confused on where to place their contributions and suffice it to say, there is an enormous number of topics with a scarce contribution from posters.

I think it is wise and prudent for the administrator to tidy up the mess and tweak those unnecessary ones.

If given a piece of chance I will endorse this idea to him.

Seems one of the other mods removed some of the topics I pinned and left just 4 at the PAF forum.

I added 6 more which I think are important enough to be left pinned. Spraret did say before that the limit should be around 10 topics.

Also, I would like to please request that the other mods please not unpin any of the topics in the Navy section, since I am still trying to decide which topics to
leave up there and reduce it to just 10 relevant recurring topics.
