Title: The eyesore on our military
Description: Heneral na takot sa tubig. Who was he ?

Fmr TOPP Awardee 82'PNP - September 19, 2009 11:01 PM (GMT)
How would you like this scenario ?

Symbolism on why the Philippines has problems ?

A week ago, an embarrassing scene was played on TV when a Filipino General
was carried on someone's shoulders so he would'nt get wet when he stepped down from a "banca". The American Officer following him just stepped down from the banca
and waded on the water without any help.

This general is an eyesore to the miltary. He ought to be restricted to quarters. How could we win the war against the Abb Sayaff ? Eh tubig lang takot na siya. Nakakahiya?
Lalong nakakahiya sa Kano na Kasunod

Good Day Sir Topp;
I Concur. What a disgusting display of Leadership. If they are afraid to get their shiny assets wet, what more when facing the ASG or NPA on the field of battle.

Sino itong lousy na ito? Dapat ma-report agad ito kay Gibo while the election fever is hot ng maturuan ng leksyon kahit pang-grandstanding lang. This way something positive comes out of the DnD Sec's political ambition.

Maybe he belong to the goat species. Takot sa tubig....
I would be glad to see him like that if he was an injured casualty in an encounter.

I think it was not really that cold water to get rid of. Pacific waters is warm or if he was protecting his asset apparrel, what on earth is he wearing that for ?

Pweh. I've been around really rich folks and kapag trabaho ay trabaho hindi bale madumihan.

Hindi lumalabas yun pix na link kaya no idea who this lousy is - ooops, lumabas na ngayon. Forward ko kay Gloria ito for action.

zundino - September 20, 2009 11:07 AM (GMT)
He is Brig. Gen. Marciano Ilagan of the Philippine Air Force. This happened a long time ago and had already reached GMA. There were also other AFP officers in the boat who were also carried by the boatman, malas lang na siya ang nakunan ng pic.

Retired na yan..

Fmr TOPP Awardee 82'PNP - September 20, 2009 09:38 PM (GMT)
If this has been brought to the attention of GMA when it happened, how come the pic comes out after the general has retired ? or nobody dared to release the photo. We can justify our suspicion that there was a cover-up right after the investigation if there was any.

Any action as a consequence of the incident by the commander-in-chief, must have been known publicly through the circles of the military so that it can be opened for scrutiny. How can misdemeanor of the military be corrected if transparency is clouded or covered up with smokescreen of disinformation ?

Although that general has retired he had left a legacy of bad and distorted imaqe of he AFP with presumptions that his acts were never corrected at all as it should be, and so it's existence is unarguably still in the very outfit he had retired from.

based from his jumper suit, he is an air force, what do we expect, he could just say sarcastically in the media, i do not swim, i fly!.

Fmr TOPP Awardee 82'PNP - September 30, 2009 09:20 AM (GMT)
If he only fly, he is no better than ducks, ducks can fly and can swim as well. He does not need to swim in a knee-deep water.

City Hunter - September 30, 2009 09:24 AM (GMT)
Hmmm, kaya pala walang reaction si Gloria sa message ko on this as retired na pala ang damuho. Still, dapat may parusa pa rin kahit retired na. Bawasan ang pension fund niya AT ibigay doon sa nagbuhat!

By the looks of his uniform and cap, I bet the guy belongs to the Philippine Air Force Command. Baka lang may PHOBIA sa water kaya nagpabuhat na lang sya sa isang sundalo and this might be the reason why he didn't choose the Navy after his PMA stint.

bros, please understand naman, look at his his shoes, took him a long time to polish kaya pakarga na lang sya.

as for the American officer, he just wanted to emulate Gen. MacArthur who waded in the water when he landed in Palo, Leyte.

That was a good Laugh about McArthur and your General.... :armyLol:

I am very sympathetic to then Brig. General Marciano Ilagan.

The good general was never and did not deserve punishment - from the RESULTS of the investigation. IT WAS NORMAL AND CUSTOMARY FOR THE BOATMEN ["BANGKERO"] IN THE LOCALITY TO CARRY THE BOAT PASSENGERS ON THEIR BACKS AFTER DEBARKING FROM THE BOAT. The incident was blown out of proportion.

The results of the investigation were disclosed by the President herself in February 2002.

This is a non-issue.

DISCLAIMER:

I am not a propagandist for the President and the SND who happens to be a relative. I am just an ordinary civilian who have introduced a lot of AFP officers to military forums but we do not speak as one - we are just near fanatical enthusiasts and do not seek to spy on suspected destabilizers or do loyalty checks contrary to rumors in various military forums.

Youre Right Sir;
Let the dead issues be dead. Anyways, he wont be able to live that down for a long long time... Its a media tactic designed to defame the good General. I am sure he served his country well... God Bless Him

However... I would like to commend that person who humped him on his back.. That was a show of strength doing that while in the water.... :thumb:

To me he looked like a paraplegic in uniform. I cannot forgive him for that decorum which is a stark contrast to the snappy American soldier following at the back. I think he deserves a hundred pushups when ashore.
