'Reserve Army Captain Allan Rellon: A Grand Slam Awardee'

IT IS WITH great pride and honor for the Tagumenos and reservists of Davao del Norte and Compostela Valley to have their very own…Vice Mayor Allan L Rellon an Army Reserve Captain, as the BEST AFP RESERVIST OFFICER for the year 2009...the Best Reservist Officer in the entire nation surpassing all other reservist officers from the Philippine Army, Philippine Navy and Philippine Air Force all together. He is among of the cream of the crop.

Witnessed by hundreds of high ranking officers of Armed Forces of the Philippines, Army Reserve Command, and private sectors, the most coveted BEST AFP RESERVIST OFFICER 2009 was conferred to CPT ALLAN L RELLON by no other than the AFP Chief Of Staff GENERAL VICTOR S IBRADO AFP & Secretary of National Defense Hon. GILBERTO C. TEODORO, JR during the 30th AFP National Reservist Week Celebration held in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City last September 19, 2009.

It was also just recently that CPT RELLON has been adjudged as BEST ARMY RESERVIST OFFICER 2009 and was awarded by the commander of Army Reserve Command B/GEN DANILO M GARCIA AFP & Commanding General of Philippine Army LT/GEN DELFIN N BANGIT AFP during the 26th ARESCOM Founding Anniversary Celebration held at Camp Riego de Dios in Tanza, Cavite last September 1, 2009.

With these two major awards garnered by CPT RELLON, one may ask…what does it take to be hailed as best reservist officer?

“Doing Best in Public Service” has always been the personal dictum and conviction of Vice Mayor Rellon as he performs indefatigably the mandate of those he serves. And indeed, this tenet has been manifested on how he actualized numerous plans, may it be in legislation or reservist related activities, into something greater that benefit the general public.

Allan L Rellon is a second termer Vice Mayor of Tagum City. He is also the National Secretary General of the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines. In 2008, he was awarded as the “MOST OUTSTANDING VICE MAYOR OF DAVAO DEL NORTE” by Governor Rodolfo P. Del Rosario, Vice Governor Victorio R. Suaybaguio, Jr and DILG Director Gregorio R. Versoza, MNSA of Davao del Norte, concrete evidence of his impressive dedication to his work and outstanding demonstration of his role in the governance and to the community.

Being commissioned as Army Reserve Captain by the President of the Republic of the Philippines, he was designated by 11RCDG Army Reserve Command as Acting Battalion Commander of 1st Davao del Norte Ready Reserve Battalion, 22nd Ready Reserve Division, Philippine Army.

In his stint as the Acting Battalion Commander, in just a period of one year, he has indeed led the men and women reservists of this army reserve battalion and propelled 1st (DAV) RRBn to significant heights of achievements in various endeavors.

Equipped with unequivocal and unprecedented leadership and managerial skills, he was able to stir up reservists’ spirit of volunteerism and involvement to a certain extent that brought out the commitment and steadfastness of the reservists on the role that they play in socio-economic development undertakings of the Government and Internal Security Operations efforts of the AFP.

He was able to initiate outstanding leadership in various activities in collaboration with other sectors geared to strengthen the army reservists and to involve them in various community undertakings, such as medical outreach, environmental protection related activities, among others.

Several of the significant and noteworthy accomplishments of the Battalion were the Landslide Rescue & Retrieval Operations in Pantukan, COMVAL, involvement in Brigada Eskwela 2009, conduct of Assembly Test, initiating Tree Planting Activity, conduct of Joint 1(DAV) RRBn & 1(COV) RRBn Pinning Of Ranks & Reading of Designations Ceremonies & 30TH AFP Reservist Week Culminating Program & organizing Gun Safety Orientation and Familiarization Firing, among others.

COL FLORANTE O ISLES INF (GSC) PA, Group Commander of 11 RCDG, Governor RODOLFO P DEL ROSARIO, Vice Governor VICTORIO R. SUAYBAGUIO, JR and Congressman ARREL R OLANO, of Davao del Norte together with the officers and personnel of 1102 Community Defense Center, 11th Regional Community Defense Group, 1003rd Infantry Brigade, 60th Infantry Battalion, Task Force Raptor, 3rd Special Forces Battalion, Provincial Government of Davao del Norte, City Government of Tagum and a number of various sectors were among the partners of this unit in several common endeavors.

The realization and success of these activities have indeed been foremost for the entire battalion to establish and be associated and recognized in a certain and distinct identity being an organization of army reservists bound together in the spirit of volunteerism, commitment, dedication and public service.
