i think i may have applied for enlisted reservist. i tried going with the PCG Aux. actually i went through the indoctrination seminar 2 yrs. ago but i don't see things happining with the squadron so i did'nt push through. i learned that all i need to do to keep up with the NavyRes. is go through this 3month training a year, or it can be every weekend, or choosen days. i like doing that! they said i can go through office or administrative or medical mission were one of my kumpare is a member and wich i meet the commander of the team headed by (Dr.) Col. Lacanieta. kindly explain to me the mechanics to be active Res. so when i'm on vacation i can render my service.

hi sir 3/e. i think you are very qualified to be a naval officer, in fact i think you could be Lt Jr Grade with your 5 years of work experience. Just go to Naval Reserve Command and ask for Commissionship requirements. The process is almost the same with technical commissionship in the army reserve. Dont waste your time, inquire now.

Hope you do so. With your knowledge and experiences on new technology, the PN would appreciate your efforts. Especially on the repairs and maintenance aspect, maybe could teach our PN to apply your systems being practiced globally.
I wished the AFP does recognizes the Reservists' talents. Exchanges of ideas could help in our AFP modernization efforts or at least keep what limited resources we have working.

i may say my accounts are limited only with offshore vessel but with variety like, drill ship, supply boats, anchor handling tug boats, DSV "saturated vessel" where were eqiupt of divers like the "men of honor" the movie, and the most advance they say, is the DSV survey vessel. this once goes with ROV or remote operated vehicle and DP or dynamic positioning. the vessel can stay in one place in DP even the waves as high as 8mtr. i even had some american navy retired divers in my previous vessel, one diver actually saw his u-boat upon watching discovery channel, we did'nt believe quickly but when we saw his picture at his younger age with the uboat then we believed. i like the idea of sharing the experience. because we seafarer gone alot of training, more on safety on board and many simulator course/training for officer.
Since you're a Marine Engineer maybe a group of you guys could do some projects such as repairing or activating some of our existing assets. Maybe when you come back on vacation and does do some AADT, you could do such. Or train some of our PN Reservist doing active Duty Training as well as PN Regulars.

perhaps if some of my mate's are still on vacation i can ask them to share some views too, as they are engineers with different vessel experience like contianers, bulk and different kind of tankers. PMMA,MAAP are mandatory to take advance rotc by thier academy on which 100% of thier graduates are commisioned in the PN, i have worked with one pmma grad who is actually a reserve Lt.cdr as he hold chief engineer license. he is one tough and smart guy, he have work in different area of maritime industries and loves to teach as he teaches part time in the training center. if only the navy and also the pcg is seriuos, perhaps they can ask the academy of both institution to conduct trainings for thier personnel on both actual and in-house base computer, simulator training because this academies are eqiupt with state-of-the-art simulator as well as training facilities. philippines are no longer left behind with this kind of training infact in one of my training's thier are japanese and european taking simulator courses here in the phil. the people who run this institution are likely military wether PN or PCG, retired or active still they can work it out. but i will keep in mind the idea of exchange views as this will help me too in some areas.

Yup, some have actually gone on to become Commodores in the PN.

That probably explains why there was a proposal to convert the PMMA into a Philippine Naval Academy. Training is reportedly one area where the PN is sorely lacking.
Can I quote you on this on the other forum?

I remember one time had a talked with a CEO of a new simulator center, that there were attempts by the PN to get the services of their simulators since their programs came from Kongsberg of Norway, known for its naval simulators and defense systems. I don't know what happened.
As for some of those exercises being done by the U.S Forces for our troops at the Balikatan such as Fire-fighting, Bridge Simulations, HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training), these were long being done by our training centers here for merchant mariners. To include GMDSS, Radar Observers Course, ARPA, ECDIS, the ISPS Code, MARPOL, etc.
Some of the administrators and instructors of these centers are even PN Reservist and PCG Auxillarists. And 3/e is right, they have foreign students attending their courses here in our country.

with all due respect to your desire, 3/e, why not be a reservist in the army instead of the navy? without prejudice to the PN, the PA has better equipment; i'm not saying our PN is inutile but army training is -- i think -- better...not because i have more friends there -- and in the marines -- but hey, 3/e, ever heard the PN battle the ASG or MINLF, MILF or the NPA? you really want to train to apprehend smugglers and pirates and mosquitoes resembling cockroaches in palawan?!
